Hi, my name is Jenny.
I began my professional journey working for five years at Opal: Food + Body Wisdom, a Seattle-based eating disorder clinic. It was there I began falling in love with the process of helping women reclaim the bodies they hated. As a trained yoga teacher and licensed psychotherapist, I teach the individuals I work with to develop a deep trust in their body and inner voice in order to help them be more engaged and connected to their lives. The more I taught, the more I began to realize that this reclaiming work is not just for those struggling with eating disorders, but it's for any individual waiting to lose another 5 or 10 or 50 pounds before they can truly love and listen to their body.
I’ve always known that I was a healer, but it’s been slowly over the past few years that my passions have clarified and begun to take on their own shape. I know I am meant to teach women how to be deeply connected to their bodies and inner wisdom. And so, Haven Yoga was born.
The yoga classes we've created at Haven are meant to help people not only release physical constriction in the body caused by stress, but to also release deeply held negative thoughts and emotions. Yoga is an opportunity to have a different experience of your body. Not as an object to critique, but as a part of ourselves to accept and connect to deeply.
When I’m not working, I can be found cooking and sharing delicious meals, appreciating good stories both written and spoken, practicing yoga, and enjoying family time with my sweet, hilarious husband Ben.
I'd love to hear from you. Please reach out if you have questions or comments about my work: jenny@havenyogaseattle.com
